How it works

  1. Send photos of the reel tags. The tag carries everything we price from — count, series, part number, footage, date code. WhatsApp is fastest. No tags? Photo the flange and the jacket printing — the footage marks tell us the length.
  2. Firm offer within 24 business hours. One number, in writing, by text or WhatsApp. Your photos are the inspection — the price doesn’t change at pickup.
  3. We book the truck. Carrier, insurance, paperwork, cost — all ours. You get the certificate of insurance and pickup window in advance. Your side: load the truck. Can’t load? Tell us and we’ll send the right truck.
  4. It ships once. Straight from your yard to the end user — no warehouse, no double handling, no return trip. Terms and timing in writing before anything moves.

How we price a reel

Every reel is priced on its own, from the tag: count, series, part number, footage, date code and condition. Send photos of the tags and you get one firm offer in writing within 24 business hours.

Hybrids, plenum, high-count ribbon and scarce specs often price higher than people expect. That’s why we read the tag before we make the offer, and why the offer sometimes surprises people upward.

Why no price list? Because two reels of the same count can be worth very different amounts. Footage, series, date code and condition all move the number. Once we’ve seen your tags, you get one number, in writing, and it doesn’t move at pickup.

Closures, pedestals, vaults, and hardware are priced from the tag and part number — send photos. FOSC-450s and dome closures move fast; please don’t scrap those.

What pushes the offer up

  • Long continuous footage per reel — 10,000 ft beats four short ends totaling the same
  • Tags on, legible, recent date codes
  • Name-brand series — Corning ALTOS, CommScope, Prysmian
  • Full factory reels, jacket clean, ends sealed
  • Multiple reels on one pickup — one truck spreads the freight

What pulls it down

  • Partial reels with unknown footage
  • Older date codes
  • Missing tags — we can price from jacket printing, but blind reels price cautiously
  • A single small reel in a far location

What we buy

What we rarely buy: patch cords and pigtails in small quantity, indoor plenum short ends, anything crushed or water-logged. When in doubt, send the photo anyway — worst case we tell you it’s scrap and you’ve lost two minutes.

Why sell to us

  1. One firm number, in writing. We price each reel from its tag photos and send the offer within 24 business hours. The number doesn't change at pickup.
  2. Over 50 years reading these tags. We know what a series and a date code are worth. That cuts both ways: you won't get lowballed on good material, and we won't waste your afternoon on a reel that's genuinely scrap.
  3. Freight is ours. We book it, pay it, insure it, and send you the certificate and pickup window in advance. Your side is loading the truck — and if you can't load, we send one that can.
  4. One lot, one truck, one conversation. Cable, closures, pedestals, the odd pallet nobody can identify — send it all. Mixed yards are our favorite kind. English y español.

Common questions

Is there a minimum?
No hard minimum, but freight math works best above roughly $1,000 of material — a couple of reels or one high-count reel gets there. Below that, WhatsApp us anyway; if you’re near a lane we’re already running, we’ll piggyback it.
Do you buy partial reels?
Yes, if the remaining footage is known or readable. Jacket printing has sequential footage marks — end mark minus start mark is your footage. Photo both ends and we’ll do the math.
Does condition matter if it’s been sitting outside?
Outside storage is fine — OSP cable is built for weather. What matters: tags on, jacket uncut, ends sealed, reel flanges intact. Water inside an unsealed cut end or a crushed reel is what kills value.
How is freight handled?
We book and pay the carrier and send you the certificate of insurance and pickup window in advance. You load — forklift or dock on your side. Can’t load? Say so in the form; we’ll send a truck that can.
How and when do I get paid?
ACH, Zelle, wire, or company check — your pick. We're a trading desk: we place material rather than warehouse it, and we settle with you out of the sale, so payment follows placement rather than pickup. You get the expected timeline in writing before anything ships. If you need cash on the spot instead, say so early and we'll tell you straight whether we're the right desk for that load.
Do you buy mixed lots — cable plus closures plus pedestals?
Yes, and we prefer them. One offer for the lot, one truck, one payment. Send photos of everything, even the stuff you think is worthless.
