Straight about the footprint: we buy nationwide and book trucks from any state. Florida is not a service area we claim, it is where the desk sits. That shows up in scheduling speed and in how often someone can come look at the pile in person, not in the price.
The same way statewide: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Southwest Florida, Jacksonville, the Panhandle. The tag sets the number: count, series, part number, footage, date code and condition. Send the photos and you get one firm offer in writing within 24 business hours.
Closures, pedestals, vaults, strand and conduit price off the part number and ride the same truck. A short in-state haul spreads across fewer miles, which helps small mixed lots clear the freight threshold that would stall them out of state.
Not on the list? The list is not the limit — send the ZIP.
Three things generate most of the surplus we see in this state.
State and county ITS work. FDOT and county traffic-management builds run their own standard specifications, pull-box details and conduit schedules, and they order to the plan rather than to the pull. What comes off those jobs is high-count backbone on partial reels, plus vaults and pull boxes, plus conduit on the drum. It is good material and it resells well.
FTTH and municipal builds. The passings work across this state runs on 12 through 288 count distribution, drop by the mile, pedestals and closures by the pallet. Closeout on a subdivision leaves partial reels in three counts and a stack of FOSCs — the classic mixed lot.
Storm season. Hurricane season runs June through November and it moves material in both directions. Restoration crews burn drop, closures and pedestals fast, so those parts are in demand. And material staged for a storm that turned, or ordered heavy for a rebuild that came in under, ends up sitting in a yard until somebody decides what to do with it. That is a good time to send photos.
Tags fade. A reel tag in a South Florida yard bleaches faster than it would almost anywhere else. The print goes first, and once the count, footage and date code are unreadable the reel prices as an unknown. Photograph the tags now, even if you are not selling until next quarter.
Open ends take water. Afternoon rain most of the summer plus salt air near the coast is hard on an unsealed cut end. Cap the ends. A sealed end is the difference between a reel that prices on its spec and one that prices as a question mark.
Neither is a reason to panic. OSP cable is built for weather and the glass does not care. It is the paperwork on the flange and the seal on the end that decide what the reel is worth.
